Patty Tunnicliffe
A resident of Santa Barbara since 1954, Patty attended both Santa Barbara Junior High and Santa Barbara High school. She later attended and graduated from Westmont College with a B.A. in literature. Patty taught American History in local schools for many years, authoring and co-authoring individualized team teaching programs that integrated American history with English and science programs. In 1977 she left teaching and obtained her real estate license. Since that time, she has worked primarily for locally owned real estate companies as an office manager, assisting agents with contracts, business planning, customer service and problem solving.
Patty has also been very active in the Santa Barbara Association of Realtors for many years, serving on and chairing various committees as well as being a member of the Board of Directors. She was REALTOR of the Year in 1986 and is a Past President of the Association. For over 20 years, Patty was a Director for the California Association of REALTORS. She chaired or vice-chaired the Legal Affairs Committee, the Legal Action Fund Trustees, Standard Forms Committee, Governmental Relations Committee and served on various Task Forces. She was a member of CAR's Executive Committee for one year. She also played an integral role in the creation of the current standard real estate contract used by the majority of brokers throughout California.
In 2005, Patty obtained an M.A. in Apologetics from Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina, completing the degree program off campus as an external student. She has put her degree to use teaching a variety of classes for both adults and high school students in local churches. She also speaks at various national conferences on issues affecting our culture and religious beliefs today.
In her spare time, Patty travels with her husband Fred, an accomplished photographer. They enjoy the American West, the National Parks, and photographing wildlife and scenery. Trips to Israel, Europe and Asia round out the time abroad. An avid reader, Patty continues her interest in contemporary culture, value systems, international politics and current events.
Working for Village Properties as manager of the Santa Barbara office allows her to be part of the premiere locally owned real estate company in this area. If you need assistance with any aspect of real estate, call Patty. She will be happy to assist you and refer you to an agent who can help you in the purchase or successful marketing of property in this special part of California.
