The Ranches at Figueroa Canyon

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008 by Wayne Natale

Two of the old ranches, formally known as The Bargo Ranch and Corrales Ranch, sold last June in the prestigious Santa Ynez Valley as one. The over 3200 acres which was comprised of 18 legal parcels and sold for approximately $25 million with each parcel being recorded under separate LLC’s. This was reportedly the largest single real estate transaction ever for the area. There was a $24 million sale in 2006 and previous to that was Michael Jackson’s purchase of his 2800 acre Neverland Ranch, in the late 1980’s, which is believed to have been purchased for a sum closer to $20 million.

Now, instead of selling the 18 separate parcels the developer, Fonterra Partners, has decided to group parcels and sell as ranches, thus named The Ranches at Figueroa Canyon under the banner “The Beauty Goes On Forever”, which it does. The Ranches at Figueroa Canyon is a unique collection of properties, ranging in size from 187 to 1,176 acres, which captures the true essence of California ranch with golden terrain, oak trees, pine trees, creeks and amazing vistas.

This very versatile property is located below the San Rafael Mountain Range and the Los Padres National Forest. The area is know for its renown thoroughbred and Arabian horse ranches as well as polo, cutting dressage and other event equestrian activities. It has also become in the most recent years the fastest growing and a very highly recognized viticulture area in the United States with quality wines including, but not limited to, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier.  The Ranches are minutes away from the towns of Santa Ynez, Solvang, Buellton and Los Olivos, thirty miles from Santa Barbara-known as the “American Riviera” and only two hours north of Los Angeles. It’s California at its best.
