Career Day at San Marcos H.S.

Friday, February 29th, 2008 by Cara Gamberdella

I, along with Village Properties agents Elaine Abercrombie, Billy Mandarino and Joshua Ramirez, spent Wednesday morning, February 20th, sharing stories about our jobs and insights into our careers with students at San Marcos High School. After a morning breakfast and enthusiastic welcome from the school administration and event organizers, we dispatched to classrooms where we spoke to four sessions of students.

The sessions for Real Estate Sales were fully attended and students asked insightful questions about the demands of the job, expected salaries, necessary training and education and entry-level opportunities. Career day was organized by the SB County Office of Education and the San Marcos High School Career Center. Having served nine years (1997-2006) as an English teacher at San Marcos, I sincerely enjoyed returning to school to share my exciting new career in real estate with the students — and my former colleagues. This is truly a wonderful opportunities for local professionals and the students to interact in a “real world” learning experience.
