Several years back, “This Old House” came to Santa Barbara and selected my good friend, Jan Winford, as their project. Her Arts & Crafts bungalow at 1616 Grand Avenue has received the Santa Barbara Beautiful Award and has been featured in several architectural books.
If you are unable to attend, a contribution can still be made in any amount to Planned Parenthood. See the invitation below: Roll up your sleeves and join “That Old Woman” and her cronies on Santa Barbara’s Riviera to create a succulent masterpiece of your own.At the top of the hill, at the end of the road, stands a house with one of the best views in Santa Barbara. Step through the wisteria vines of the leaded-glass door into an incredible arts-and-crafts environment as owner Jan Winford takes you on a very special behind-the-cupboards tour of this amazing handcrafted home. When the crew from This Old House arrived in Santa Barbara in 2000 to raise the roof on this circa 1907 Craftsman-style bungalow, they had no idea what they were getting into. Neither did the owner. Now is your chance to relive a bit of the renovation and restoration and hear the tales of Jan’s survival. Afterwards, trot out back to the welcoming terraced gardens where Jennifer De Nunzio, owner of Exotica West Interiorscapes, will provide the materials Creative sidekicks Nancy Breese Holmes, Mary Lu Edick, and Robin Sonner look forward to serving up an array of delicious hors d’oeuvres along with some local wines to savor on the front porch as the Santa Barbara dusk rolls in.
