Colin Hayward

Colin's Story

As a fifth generation Santa Barbaran, Colin grew up in the neighborhoods of San Roque, Hidden Valley and Hope Ranch. Eventually, he purchased his first home in the lower Riviera area of Santa Barbara. Colin attended Claremont McKenna College in Los Angeles and earned a degree in economics and business. In 1982 he worked for Santa Barbara Designs—the world's premier designer and manufacturer of outdoor market umbrellas—ultimately becoming the president and owner over the course of three decades. Eventually earning a certificate in personal finance from UCSB, and working for a major international bank, he has a solid understanding of modern asset management techniques.

A Star boat sailor during his high school years, every summer he traveled up and down the California coast, from San Diego to San Francisco. He spent countless hours at La Cumbre Country Club, The Tennis Club of Santa Barbara and the "Muni" tennis courts honing his singles and doubles skills during the golden age of tennis. Today, he plays golf with his wife and son, and is regularly humbled, but still has a lot of fun.

The miracle of jet travel has made it possible for Colin to visit over 25 countries and, for two years, he and his family called Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, home. Pto. Vallarta, Santa Barbara's Sister City, is beautiful, exotic, and intoxicating. (If you go, don't miss Joe Jack's in the Romantic Zone.)

For over a decade Colin has supported the Old Spanish Days organization, volunteering as a parade Marshall for El Desfile Historico and helping with security at La Fiesta Pequeña. The annual celebration, known by most as simply 'Fiesta', it is the largest and most inclusive event in Santa Barbara.

With his wife, Monica, they have formed the Hayward Group Real Estate team, dedicated to treating each of their clients with the individual attention they deserve. Finding the best possible solution — through focused listening and creative strategies—is their operational goal. One example is their expertise in special loan programs for medical professionals; if you happen to be a Dr.—either living in the Santa Barbara area currently, or you'd like to—please give them a call in order to discuss one of the options that might be available to you.

Ultimately, the Hayward Group believes that communication is paramount to all successful transactions. It is their pleasure to keep the information flowing in two languages.
